Traffic accident leaves seven dead in Brazil | News

The Federal Highway Police of Brazil (PRF, acronym in Portuguese), reported on Tuesday the death of seven people from a traffic accident in the state of Paraná (south), which also left 22 injured.

The incident was reported at kilometer 230 of the BR-277 highway, in Fernandes Pinheiro (PR), involving a Viação Catarinense bus, which was heading from Florianópolis to Iguazú Falls.

According to reports, the vehicle left the track and fell to the side of it around 01:50 (local time) in the morning.

Likewise, the PRF explained that the bodies of the deceased were collected by specialists in legal medicine, and among them there is a mother who was traveling with her three-year-old son, both of Argentine nationality; meanwhile, the wounded received medical aid at a hospital in Irati.

The PRF also reported that the section where the accident occurred belongs to the regional PRF in Guarapuava, and explained that the track was not prohibited, as the bus overturned outside the track lane.

Until now the exact number of passengers is unknown and the Civil Police are investigating the causes of the accident, regardless of whether the driver declared that he had fallen asleep at the wheel.
