Earlier, the NHK TV channel reported that at the first power unit of the Fukushima-2 nuclear power plant in the pool with spent nuclear fuel, the pump that supplies water for cooling stopped.

“The spent fuel cooling system at the Fukushima-2 nuclear power plant has been restored,” the agency said in a statement.

An earthquake of magnitude 7.3 occurred on Wednesday in the northeast of Japan in the Pacific Ocean near Fukushima Prefecture at 23.36 local time (17.36 Moscow time). There was a tsunami threat. The source lay at a depth of 60 kilometers.
The tremors were felt in the prefectures of the northeast and north of Japan. Strong undulating shocks were felt in Tokyo. There is no information about the destruction yet, according to media reports, one person died, about 70 were injured.
