MOSCOW, September 4 – RIA Novosti. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, in an interview with ZDF, promised to cap electricity prices soon.
“This will happen as soon as possible,” the head of government said, commenting on the timing of the introduction of price restrictions.
Scholz did not provide any details. At the same time, he predicted that a blackout would not happen next winter, but at the same time did not rule out such a scenario.
Western countries, including Germany, are faced with rising energy prices and a surge in inflation due to the imposition of sanctions against Moscow and the policy of abandoning Russian fuel. Due to the rise in the price of fuel, primarily gas, the industry in the West has largely lost its competitive advantages, which has also affected other sectors of the economy. Also, the United States and European countries are facing record inflation in decades.
