UN, June 6 – RIA Novosti. On the Day of the Russian Language (June 6), the Russian Permanent Mission will launch a project in social networks in which it will talk about the Russian-language resources of the UN, Fyodor Strzhizhovsky, press secretary of the Russian mission, told reporters.
“This year we will tell our social media subscribers about the UN’s official Russian-language media resources,” the spokesman said.
According to him, the goal of the project, which is supported by official UN resources, is “to show that the global agenda, for all its complexity, can be very interesting.”
Russian Language Day
“We decided to tell not only about the most visited sites, such as the main UN portal (un.org), the News Service in Russian (news.un.org/ru/) or the Moscow Information Center (unic.ru), but also about very important UN departments and programs (WHO, FAO, IAEA, etc.), whose resources also contain a lot of interesting and useful information,” Strzhizhovsky said.
According to him, this year the association of Russian-speaking UN employees “Russian Book Club” traditionally organizes a number of events at the UN headquarters, “during which meetings with famous masters of the pen and bloggers will be held.”
“The heads of diplomatic missions and the Deputy Secretary General (UN – ed.) will make a welcoming speech, and students of the UN language courses will read poetry in Russian,” Strzhizhovsky said.
