TOKYO, April 21 – RIA Novosti. India has refused to accept a Japan Air Self-Defense Force plane carrying aid to Ukraine, the Kyodo news agency reported.
At the end of April, the plane was supposed to take a cargo of humanitarian aid to Poland and Romania, neighboring Ukraine, through the UN Refugee Commission. India and the United Arab Emirates are used as transit points for this.
The issue was agreed with Delhi at the working level, but on April 20 a refusal was received. The Indian authorities cited insufficient coordination as the reason. The final decision on the issue will be made on Friday.
The issue of India’s refusal and the need to make changes to the plans was discussed at the political council of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, from the participants of which Kyodo learned about the problem.
“India is close to Russia. Did they not take into account the possibility that it will turn around (180 degrees)?” – the agency quotes the words of one of the meeting participants.
In March, Tokyo handed over aid to Kiev in the form of non-lethal defense equipment: bulletproof vests, helmets, warm clothes, tents, cameras, hygiene products, dry rations, generators. On Tuesday, Japanese Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi announced plans to send surveillance drones, masks and chemical protection clothing to Ukraine as humanitarian aid.
As Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said earlier, the United States is aware that Delhi and Moscow are “natural allies” and maintain stable ties, but at the same time, India will not allow its relations with a third country to negatively affect “the main national interests of the United States.”
Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24. President Vladimir Putin called its goal “the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.” For this, according to him, it is planned to carry out the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, to bring to justice all war criminals responsible for “bloody crimes against civilians” in Donbass.
