Ex-deputy of Rada Kiva announced his intention to seek asylum in Russia

MOSCOW, April 19 – RIA Novosti. The deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ilya Kiva, who was deprived of his mandate, announced his intention to officially ask for protection and political asylum in Russia after Kyiv announced that they would turn to Moscow with a request to extradite Kiva.
Earlier, the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Serhiy Ionushas said that Kyiv intends to apply to Russia with a request to extradite Ilya Kiva.

Kiva commented on the proposal to exchange Medvedchuk for British prisoners

“In the current situation, I inform you that I intend to officially ask for protection and political asylum in Russia,” Kiva wrote in his Telegram channel.
In early March, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova said that Kiva was suspected of treason, an attempt on territorial integrity, illegal handling of weapons, and that he would soon be put on the international wanted list. Kiva stated that he knew about the suspicion of treason brought against him by the Prosecutor General’s Office on January 29, so the next day he flew from Ukraine to Spain, and from there to Moscow. Shortly before the announcement of suspicion, Kiva criticized the current Ukrainian government.
Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24. President Vladimir Putin called its goal “the protection of people who have been subjected to genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.” For this, according to him, it is planned to carry out “demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine.” According to the Russian Defense Ministry, as of March 25, the Armed Forces completed the main tasks of the first stage – they significantly reduced the combat potential of Ukraine. The main goal in the Russian military department was called the liberation of Donbass.
