During this period, during the day it is forbidden to drink, eat, smoke incense, enjoy pleasures and indulge in entertainment; daytime should be dedicated to work, prayers, recitation of the Qur’an, pious thoughts and deeds, charity.
Eating and drinking is allowed only after sunset and before sunrise. The sick, children, people on the road, soldiers participating in hostilities, etc. are exempted from fasting in Ramadan, but the unfulfilled fast must be compensated at another time.
