MOSCOW, April 5 – RIA Novosti. Ukraine will be able to export by rail no more than 1.5 million tons of food per month, which is three times less than the country exported by sea before the start of the Russian special operation, said First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky.
He said that in January, when Ukrainian ports were fully operational, about 150,000 tons of Ukrainian agricultural products were exported by rail, and in March, when the ports were blocked, about 300,000 tons were exported by rail.
“We have calculated the potential, and if all the necessary measures are taken, we can reach the figure of 1.5 million tons (of food). Of course, this is three times less than the throughput of ports,” Vysotsky said on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel.
He emphasized that these indicators are still far from being achieved, but his department will strive to achieve this level, working with suppliers, carriers and international partners.

Bread prices rise sharply in Greece

Ukraine is one of the largest exporters of agricultural products. In 2021, it exported more than $12 billion worth of grains.
According to the estimates of the profile Ukrainian portal “APK-Inform”, the loss of grain sown areas by Kiev may amount to about 40% of both winter and spring crops.
