BERLIN, April 3 – RIA Novosti. German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said that the situation in Ukraine will lead to a decrease in the level of well-being for the Germans.
“(Events – ed.) in Ukraine will make us all poorer, for example, due to the fact that we have to pay more for energy imports. Even the state will not be able to stop this decline in welfare. But it is possible to mitigate the strongest shocks, that’s what we are and we do,” Lindner said in an interview with Bild.

According to him, the authorities intend to support the needy and enterprises whose work is under threat. However, he noted that financial resources are limited, and therefore support measures can only be temporary. “In the long term, new foundations for well-being need to be laid,” Lindner said.
Commenting on inflation in Germany in March, which reached 7.3%, Lindner said he was “seriously concerned about economic development” as growth slows and prices rise, the government is doing everything to prevent stagflation.
