In Germany, predicted poverty due to the embargo on oil and gas from Russia

MOSCOW, April 1 – RIA Novosti. Mayor of Hamburg Peter Chencher, in an interview with ZDF, spoke out against the possible imposition of an embargo on the supply of Russian energy resources to Germany, noting that such a decision would cause irreparable damage to the German economy.

“We should not help anyone, thereby causing want and poverty in Germany, if we are not sure that this will really affect Russia,” said Chancher.

He stressed that the German government should strive to reduce its energy dependence on Moscow without suffering an economic disaster.
On February 24, Russia launched a military operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine. In response, Western countries announced large-scale sanctions against Moscow, primarily in the banking sector and the supply of high-tech products. Individual brands have announced they will stop working in the country.
The Kremlin called these measures an economic war like no other. The authorities stressed their readiness for such a development of events and assured that they would continue to fulfill social obligations. The Bank of Russia is taking measures to stabilize the situation on the foreign exchange market. The authorities also announced the transfer of payments for gas supplies to unfriendly countries into rubles. In addition, the government has prepared a plan to counter restrictive measures, which includes about a hundred initiatives. The amount of its funding will be about a trillion rubles.
