World champion Max Verstappen claimed the most points this Formula 1 weekend at Imola, leading a Red Bull one-two on Sunday, while Ferrari’s homecoming left a bitter taste for the championship leader, Charles Leclerc, and his Italian team.

Mexican Sergio Perez finished second at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, 16.527 seconds behind the Dutch driver, with Lando Norris repeating last year’s third place and claiming McLaren’s first podium of the season.

Leclerc, who is the championship leader and has won two of the first three races, struggled to finish sixth after a late lap while in third.

His teammate, Spaniard Carlos Sainz, was left out after a collision on the first lap.

Verstappen, who picked up eight points on Saturday for winning the sprint race, also earned a bonus point on Sunday for the fastest lap and is now 27 points behind Leclerc.

Ferrari’s lead over Red Bull in the championship has dropped to 11 points.

George Russell was fourth for Mercedes, with Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas fifth, AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda seventh and Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel eighth.

Kevin Magnussen was ninth, competing for Haas, and Lance Stroll took the final point for Aston Martin.
