Calderano remains in the debut and goes to the round of 16 of the WTT Contender, in Doha

The table tennis player from Rio de Janeiro, Hugo Calderano, debuted with an easy victory this Monday (21) in the main phase of the WTT Contender Doha (Qatar) and assured his presence in the round of 16. Number 3 in the world, Calderano ran over the Chinese Liu Dingshuo (134th in the world ranking), by 3 sets to 0 (11/6, 11/8 and 15/13). The games are broadcast live on the competition’s official YouTube channel.

The carioca’s next opponent in the fight for a spot in the quarterfinals of the WTT Contender will be the Swedish Anton Kallberg (31st). Departure date and time are yet to be determined. The tournament is the second in a series of three championships in Doha. The final will be next Thursday (24), the day before the WTT Star Contender, also in Doha, with the best in the world.

Thiago Monteiro from Ceará said goodbye to the preliminary phase of the tournament, after losing to Algerian Mehdi Bouloussa by 3 sets to 0 (8/11, 7/11 and 11/13) in the second round.
