The Justice of Rio de Janeiro denied, today (15), once again, a request for freedom for former councilor Jairo Souza Santos, Dr. Jairinho.

This is the second time that the 7th Criminal Chamber of the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro (TJRJ) has refused a request for habeas corpus for the former councilor. In November last year, the same chamber rejected a request from Dr Jairinho’s lawyers.

Dr. Jairinho has been in prison, along with teacher Monique Medeiros, since April 2021, accused of being responsible for the death of four-year-old Henry Borel.

On the 22nd, the TJRJ must evaluate another request for freedom made by the former councilman’s lawyers. This request remains secret in court.
